Travel and Sexual Health

South Australia’s strategy of test, trace and isolate has helped prevent transmission of COVID-19 in the community. But did you know the same can steps can be applied to sexual health to ensure we protect ourselves and others in our community?

Getting tested regularly, waiting for results, receiving treatment if needed, and practicing safe sex all reduce the transmission of HIV and other STIs.

If you are booking tickets interstate for an upcoming event, or even traveling within South Australia, getting a sexual health test before you head off is something to consider as part of your pre-departure checklist.

Sexual health tests are straightforward, private, and easy to access. You can visit your regular GP, SHINE SA sites, or the Adelaide Sexual Health Centre, where you can also ask any questions you have about your sexual health or safe sex and contraceptive options.

SAMESH also provide the RAPIDO! Rapid HIV Testing service every Monday 3PM-6PM at the Hyde Street SHINE SA site you can find out more about here.

For more information on STIs, HIV and how to best practice safe sex, check out our webpages on sexual health.
